“move in a direction that puts human dignity at risk.” Bishop Bilz
In light of current events, we would like to refer to the statements made by Bishop Bilz regarding the AfD’s values and attitudes. We share the concern “that we are moving in a direction in which human dignity is in danger.”

Christina Doll: THE ANGEL TRAVELS
from Sun, 07.01.2024, 10:00 service, 11:00 vernissage
Exhibition as part of the Engel und Bergmann project in the Schlosskirche Chemnitz
For six months, the angel Christina Dolls could be seen in the St. Wolfgangskirche in Schneeberg.
The artist has been working for some time on the themes of “nativity scenes” and “angels and miners”.
The initiative to create angel figures arose from an encounter with an actress with Down’s syndrome.
As part of the PURPLE PATH art and sculpture trail in cooperation with Kulturkirche2025, she is currently developing a sculpture of an angel and a miner in a new cultural interpretation.
The resulting pairs will be exhibited in numerous churches and hospices, inclusive institutions, art spaces and museums in 2025.
Richard Long’s “Petrified Wood Circle” also follows the Way of St. James. It has been on display in St. Katharinen Zwickau since September.

Maker – advent
Please pass this invitation on to the creative associations in your town. We want to encourage you to make the reason for Christmas creatively visible.
Capital of Culture is looking for hands-on offers for the Makeradvent
Submission deadline: 15.09.2023
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear Makers,
Dear Creatives,
For this year’s Christmas season, we would like to bundle hands-on activities in the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz and cultural region under the title “Makeradvent” with a brochure: From Christmas woodturning, lace-making, baking, carving, knitting or drawing, to soldering, lasering, programming or 3D printing – everything is allowed and, above all, encouraged!
The brochure creates visibility for the countless workshops and studios in Chemnitz and the region and involves a wide range of people through the theme of Christmas. It aims to motivate people to create their own Christmas objects and learn new (craft) skills in the process. At the same time, it inspires guests in the city and region for the traditions and cultural heritage.
We would be delighted if you could develop suitable offers during the Advent season (period: 27.11.-24.12.) or already have them in the pipeline that we could potentially include in the brochure! There are no costs for you, we will take care of the production, printing and distribution of the brochure.
Please submit your bids by September 15, 2023 using the following link:
https://forms.gle/txHmBqiiBTp87KGe9
We will inform you as soon as we receive the information whether we will include your offer in the Makeradvent brochure.
We ask for your understanding that we may not be able to consider all submissions.
The brochure will be ready for distribution from the beginning of November, and there will of course also be a digital version.
We will be happy to inform you as soon as a date for the official presentation of the brochure has been set.
If you have any questions, please contact Nina Rüb at any time: nina.rueb@chemnitz2025.de
We look forward to many great offers!
Best regards,
Nina Rüb for the “Makers, Business & Arts” team of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025
